Palestinian Child's Message To Israeli Settlers

*updated with part II on 2-6-2011*

It's a sign of our evolution as a people to see this adorable Palestinian Elmo scream that he wants to drink the blood of the settlers, not the blood of Jews or even Israelis. This is a distinction not to be taken lightly.

If anything, this video proves to me that the 1967 green line has entered the Palestinian psyche as the only possible border between the two nations. This is reinforced by the kid's message that the Arabs have forsaken Haifa.

If this is not a call for a peaceful 2-state solution, I don't know what is.

I suggest Israel withdraw to the green line immediately, before this kid gets angry and asks to drink the blood of those in Tel Aviv.

Put captions on to see my translation.

As long as Palestinians keep screaming about drinking blood, this social evolution is lightyears away...

I have relatives who are settlers. They are fully secular, would have no problem vacating their homes if a settlement is reached and ended out there not because of ideology, but because in the early eighties, this seemed like a nice community to raise a young cash strapped family.

It's quite funny that this child preaches in favor of Haifawi accent while saying hassa3, noktolkom, and alkodes...
He's indeed very cute, but personally I prefer people who don't wish to drink anyone else's blood, even if they favor a one state solution and the right of return.
I just think that using a discourse of deprived human rights has more impact than that of bloodshed, be that the killing of the most repulsive west bank settlers (this applies to his parents, not him).

The child is only doing what he has been taught. Poor baby. When I see this kind of child abuse I always remember Yehuda Amichai's poem:

"God pities kindergarten children,
School children He pities less.
Grownups he pities not at all."

Hey Guys...

Be it far from me to come to the defense of a freaking fairy and Arab...but maybe y'all kind of missing the main point.

The typical Arab poetic hyperbole aside...what Nancy here is pointing out is a fundamental changing in rhetoric...in outlook...there is FINALLY a possible growing degree of some of these guys waking up to the FACT that the great conquest is not going to happen and that half a loaf is the best they are going to get...

Now it took quite a few decades and a WHOLE lot of waste and suffering...but the underlying message is critical...

Now...I am not for jumping right on out there and having Nizo's relatives move into my old house in Jerusalem...there is a LOT of work ahead of us...but the point here is not lost on me.

I don't know what percentage of Pali thinking little Yasser here represents...but I certainly get Nancy's point.

Who's to say settlers are only beyond the '67 lines? Given fables like Tel Aviv replacing an Arab village named Tel Ar-Rabi3, what makes Tel Avivians any less settlers than the residents of Itamar?

(This is, of course, not my opinion - Just explaining what I think many Palestinians believe, and subsequently why I am unimpressed)

Yeah, it's not obvious that he refers to the Green Line. If he would have asked settlers why they don't want to go to Haifa, then... But anyway a cute boy. Shabar al Jabareen is getting another Mahmoud Darwish

Shabar al Jabareen = Shaab al Jabareen

Aviv makes a good point.

Hamas routinely takes responsibility to shooting Qasams at 'Settlers in Sderot'.

Yeah, I gotta say, Nizo, the kid starts by talking about Haifa. Though of course your language and cultural knowledge carry great weight, I'm not seeing how it can't just be that he's referring to all Israelis as settlers. The parents have gotten smarter by having him use the word "settler," rather than Jew or Israeli, making it a more palatable video for export. Am I wrong?

Nobody said...

What export? It's a private video in Arabic. It's just that he seems to refer to all Israelis as settlers

Howie got it. I will post the second video by the kid where he refers to israel and palestine as different countries.

Nobody said...

Right. He does. Yallah peace!!!

What a cute kid! IMHO he should not refer to such problems or even know such words, at his tender age.
I remember another video of a child that age - a girl saying that Jews are apes and pigs:

i dont think he is referring to them as side by side - i think he is just attaching them as concepts that infer good and bad..

No.
He clearly calls Israel a balad (country), he clearly says the settlers are from Israel reinforcing the idea that it's a physical place.
